Short Course on Thesis-Writing
 
 
 
A short course for graduate students in the Wiess School of Natural Sciences currently writing or about to begin writing a Ph.D. or master’s thesis

Wednesday, May 27 - Friday, June 5, 2009
Five classes (beginning after Memorial Day)
10 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. 
Meyer Conference Room, RMC Student Center

Course participants will learn how to
Identify the seven key questions that must be answered in a thesis
Write a complete and concise abstract
Review the relevant background literature
Construct logical and easy-to-read paragraphs
Choose precise verbs and the correct voice
Display visuals that best support results
Use sources correctly and avoid plagiarism.

Due to limited space in the course, all participants must expect to complete their degree on or before August 1, 2010. Participants must be available to attend all six class meetings.
