In addition to leading stand-alone courses and workshops that emphasize communication, Dr. Purugganan and Dr. Eich collaborate with faculty in the Wiess School of Natural Sciences to integrate communication instruction into the science curriculum. They also train presentation coaches, seminar mentors, discussion group leaders, and writing advisors to work closely with students one-on-one or in small groups to improve both written and oral communication.
Syllabus and assignment design services are available at request to help integrate communication instruction and assignments into your course.
In class presentations led by Dr. Purugganan or Dr. Eich give students best practice guidelines for oral presentation of research.
Presentation Coaches and Seminar Mentors are trained graduate students and post-docs who provide feedback to undergraduate or graduate students preparing or delivering oral presentations.
Discussion groups, led by trained undergraduate student discussion group leaders, allow students to become intimately familiar with course topics in an informal setting.
Writing Advisors are trained undergraduate students who excel in written communication. They meet with students one-on-one to evaluate and provide feedback on papers.
